Tips: Visiting the Grand Canyon with a Baby
Check out NPS’ podcast on visiting the park with babies before you go.
1
Bring a stroller! The popular Rim Trail is paved.
2
Be prepared for the weather! We visited in the winter and prepared by dressing for the snow. ❄️
3
Watch for NPS’ heat advisories if you’re traveling in the summer and bring plenty of water.
4
Bring a baby carrier if you plan to hike below the rim.
5
Keep in mind that only some sections of the Rim Trail are fenced off.
6
Book comfortable lodging in the park so that you can get an early start each morning! ☀️
7
Choose trails and viewpoints ahead of time that are do-able with a baby.
8
(We liked the Powell Point lookout)
9
Relax and enjoy the park’s food (El Tovar’s breakfasts with a view are amazing!)
