What is Visual Note-taking?
1
Warm up by practicing drawing lines, shapes and curves. Then turn them into simple images.
2
Start with a clear, bold, header. The header should be the subject you are taking notes on.
3
Understand ways to make a clear layout.
4
List the main parts of your subject. Visual note-taking combines listening, writing and drawing.
5
Create simple images to go with your text.
6
Connect ideas and concepts. Some good “connectors” are dotted lines and arrows.
7
Create “containers” to group and organize certain parts of your text. Be creative!
8
Emphasize important areas by making thicker, darker outlines and filling in areas of negative space.
9
Create more visual interest by adding little details like characters, landscapes or fun objects.
10
Add a few colors to make areas pop or highlight important information.
11
Keep practicing to improve!
