1
Using a ruler, draw a rectangle that is 6” wide and 9” tall.
2
Cut along the lines you drew.
3
Draw a 1/2” border on all 4 edges.
4
On the short ends of the rectangle, make 1/4” marks. Using an X-acto cut through those marks.
5
Make shuttles by cutting an H out of cardboard & wrapping each color of yarn separately.
6
Wrap your loom with yarn. Slide the yarn through the 1/4” slots. This creates your warp threads.
7
Tie the yarn to the first warp thread. Move the shuttle through the warp going over & under.
8
Start the next color above the first. Leave a 2” tail of yarn at the beginning & end of each color.
9
Repeat step 9 with each new color.
10
Using a yarn needle tuck the tails of the yarn into the woven areas.
11
Cut the yarn across the back side. Tie the loose bottom strings together.
12
Weave a dowel rod through the top warp strings. Tie the loose strings around the dowel.
13
Trim the top strings. Tie some yarn to the dowel for hanging & trim the bottom fringe.
14
Hang your woven tapestry and enjoy!
