What To Do In Yellowstone National Park In Winter
Book a snowmobile tour to see Old Faithful and/or Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone! It must be with a certified tour company.
1
If you want to go in the park yourself, you’ll need to apply for a permit, but you don’t need one if you book a tour.
Take a snow coach tour around Yellowstone! A lot of the snowmobile tour companies also offer snow coach tours.
2
Snowshoe or cross country ski along one of the trails within Yellowstone. The easiest way to enter is through the northern entrance - it stays open!
3
Go wildlife viewing! The wildlife are sometimes more present in the winter since there aren’t as many people around.
4
Visit Mammoth Hot springs. This area is one of the only areas that you can get to without booking a tour since the northern entrance is open.
5
You’ll likely be the only person visiting Mammoth Hot Springs if you go in winter, so enjoy it! You’ll also be able to go into the visitors center
Visit the town of Gardiner right outside the northern entrance. You’ll find a ton of bars, restaurants, and gift shops here.
