Why You Should Change Your Propagation Water Weekly
Water propagation is one of the easiest ways to grow free plants, but you shouldn’t just set it and forget it
If you don’t switch out the water your plants are rooting in every few days or weekly, the water can start to turn green
This slimy substance is called algae and can cause your propagations to rot
The algae will coat the roots and can be harmful because it steals oxygen from your propagations
Without oxygen, your propagations will begin to rot and get mushy
This is what healthy propagation roots look like. They should be firm and white
Don’t worry if you do have algae on your roots! You can remove it
Simply rinse the roots with warm water and rub the algae off
Then replace your propagations in fresh, clean water
