Zamuoculas Zamiifolia, or ZZ plant for short, is a striking semi succulent native to East Africa.
ZZ plants like to be root bound. Plant in a pot that is only a little bigger than the root system.
These round bulbs are rhizomes. They store water so the plant can survive in very dry situations.
ZZ plants are very hardy so you can pot them using generic potting soil.
Make sure your pot has drainage because this plant likes to dry out completely between waterings.
Water around 1 to 3 times a month. Do not water automatically on a set schedule!
ZZ plants can survive in low, which is shown here. This plant is about 10 ft from the window.
They can also be placed in bright, indirect light which will make them grow faster.
Remember to dust leaves regularly. Especially if your ZZ is in low light so it can photosynthesize!
