How to Sew a Placket
Basic Sewing Supplies
Fold bodice front in half and clip in on center fold.
Using Placket Template, place centered on cut and mark stitching and cutting lines.
Cut down center fold to the marking, then cut marked lines to create a Y shape.
Take ironed placket piece opened up and pin to Y shape, matching raw edges. (Edges will hang over)
Flip over and make any adjustments so fabrics lay smooth and flat.
On ironed line and marked stitching line, sew the placket to the bodice front.
Make sure no extra fabric is tucked under while sewing.
Refold the placket, covering the stitching and raw edges. Pin in place.
Sew the folded placket down, making sure you catch the back of it.
Fold left side (right for girls) of placket down. Hold bottom point and fold back up to top. Pin.
Stitch the point down with a rectangle with an x in the middle.
Now you are ready to add buttons or snaps!
