Grease a 9x13 pan (or 3 round cake pans) and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Add softened butter and sugar to bowl, then cream.

Add eggs one at a time, beating between additions. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Add salt and baking powder, then mix well. Scrape sides again.

Add one cup of flour, and stir on low just until mostly mixed.

Add half the milk and stir on low again.

Add the second cup of flour, and repeat.

Add the remaining milk, plus the vanilla and almond extract, then stir on low speed.

Add the last of the flour and stir until just mixed. Use a spatula if you prefer.

Pour batter into the greased plan, then spread it evenly with a spatula.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-33 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean.

Cool completely, then frost with you favorite icing. I love mocha or strawberry!
