Add dried chick peas, baking soda and water into a bowl, cover & let soak 8-12 hrs or overnight

Rinse, add them to a large pot along with baking soda & water,simmer for 30-45 min until tender

Instant pot: add soaked beans with 4 cups water - high for 5 min & natural release 20min
