Simple ingredients, including dry yeast (you can also use fresh)

Mix active dry yeast with water and let foam to make sure it’s active.

For the dough, we add milk, sugar, eggs, salt, and some of the flour.

Next comes the melted butter and vanilla.

And the rest of the flour until you have a shaggy mass.

Cover and let rest for 15 minutes. The next part can be made by hand or with a stand mixer 🤩

Start to knead on a floured surface or dough hook with the mixer; it will be very sticky so add flour as needed.

Eventually it will become more supple and easier to handle.

You will be able to knead it without it sticking to the counter, or it will leave the sides of the bowl if using the mixer.

Let double in volume, punch down and transfer to a clean surface.

Divide in 3 and make ropes that will be braided.

Bake as directed and glaze after it’s completely cooled.
