Homemade Apple Butter from Apple Sauce

Apple Sauce, 1kg
Cinnamon, 1 Stick
Clove, 10 Pieces

Set the hob to medium heat & pour the apple sauce into a small saucepan.

Add cinnamon and cloves into the saucepan. Use a bit of water to rinse the jars (max ~100ml).

Cover and reduce to low heat (so it doesn’t burn). Check every 1.5-2 hours for progress.

After 1.5 hours, the sauce should have reduced a bit. Stir and cover again.

Another 2 hours later. Getting there but not there yet. Stir and cover again.

1 hour later. [Twas night time so I turned off heat].

[The next morning]. So this is the consistency you want the butter to be - very thick!

Pick out the cinnamon stick + cloves and store the butter in a jar.

Can be stored in the fridge for 2 months. Serve with toast, scones, pancakes or use it to bake!
