My Holiday Apple Pie!

8 Granny Smith apples

White granulated sugar

all-purpose flour
Unsalted butter
4table spoons
Cold Water
Cinnamon 1tablespoon
Peel apples and slice them into chunks

Add sugar, cinnamon, Zest 1 lemon and squeeze 3 tablespoons of lemon juice in bowl of apple chunks

Melt 1 stick of butter in frying pan and cook apples down until they soften, and juice thickens

Cover apples and let them simmer in syrup for 5 min at Medium heat

Cut butter into cubes

Add flour and 1/2 cups of butter and 1/2 cups of shortening...mix together until it crumbles

Roll out dough, wrap it up and refrigerate for at least 30min

Lay 1/2 dough in pan, cut the other 1/2 dough into even strips

Pour apples into pan over bottom crust, and lay strips on top...

After lattice is complete decorate pie however you desire using remaining dough

Use brush to paint Egg wash on pie (egg and water)

Sprinkle completed pie with cinnamon and sugar mixture

Bake pie for 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown
