Ceramic Sculpture
Acrylic Paint
Paintbrush
Using a dark acrylic paint thinned with water, fill in the deepest crevices of sculpture.
1
Mix a slightly lighter color and add a layer. It might take some time to fill everything in.
2
Cover entire sculpture in paint, let dry.
3
Mix a lighter color to paint on the higher areas of sculpture.
4
Lighten paint again and brush on. Lighten by adding a small amount of white to paint. Let dry.
5
Create a higher highlight. Use less water so that you are “dry brushing” the paint. Let dry.
6
Dry brush highlights on only the highest points of piece. This brings out all of the details.
7
Mix in a luminous or metallic paint into highlight color to add a magical touch.
8
Paint highlight on by brushing on in one direction. Adding metallic just on the edges.
9
All done! Paint sculptures great alternative to glaze. Immediate results and no need for a kiln!
