Squid
India Ink
Pour ink or paint into a dish.
1
Carefully dip squid in the ink.
2
Carefully wipe excess ink off the squid so you don’t drip.
3
Carefully lay squid and arrange tentacles onto the paper.
4
Lift straight up and reveal the print!
5
Experiment with the composition you can make and the amount of ink you can use.
6
I suggest making multiple prints and arrangements.
7
See what happens when you let the material sit for a while before lifting.
8
Reuse the squid without dipping to get a variation of tones.
9
You can even use the pieces as a brush to add more variation to the lines.
10
Try using pressure to change the marks.
11
This process is a little not for the squeamish but it can create beautiful and surprising results.
12
Using fish is actually an ancient art form so don’t be afraid to get a little messy!
