The Best Sugar Cookies
Put 1.5 c butter and 2 c sugar in mixer.

Cream together until light and fluffy.

Add 4 eggs and 1.5 tsp vanilla.

Beat until smooth and creamy.

Add 5 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp salt.

Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least an hour or up to a few days.

The chilled dough should be firm but pliable.

Divide chilled dough into sections and return unused dough to refrigerator.

Roll to about 1/4" thick.

Cut into desired shapes.

We like using plastic cookie cutters because they hold their shape.

And remember to use shapes that are easy to decorate.

Leave space between the cookies and bake at 400 F for 6-8 minutes.

These cookies have a little bit of puff, but they are really tender so it's a trade we are willing to make.

Cool on the sheet for 4-5 minutes then move to a wire rack and cool completely.

Then decorate with buttercream or royal icing
