Tracking Left-to-right
To read English we must move our eyes from left-to-right, top-to bottom across a page or screen.
This isn’t how our eyes and brains work naturally. This skill must be taught and practiced.
In the classroom this skill is often reinforced at the board with a pointer.
Track with your finger as you read to your child.
Use your index finger to track words while you read.
Left-to-right, top-to-bottom.
Hold your child’s finger, use that as your tracker when you read.
Letter search with left-to-right tracking
Find the Ps by tracking left-to-right.
He tracks with his finger, then again with the crayon, circling Ps.
There are many ways to add to this activity as skills and confidence grow!
