Zero Waste Easy DIY Keyboard And Mouse Wristpads
Gather your materials. Use what you already have if you can!
1
Fold fabric along the long edge to create a double layer 4" wide.
2
Cut the fabric to make a double layer the length of the keyboard.
3
Thread the machine with matching thread.
4
Fold fabric so right sides (i.e. the pattered sides you want to show) are together.
5
Sew around one short side, the long side (opposite the fold), and 2/3 up the third side. Leave a 1/2" seam allowance around all edges.
6
Here is the third side with the gap. This is the opening to flip the fabric rightside out and fill with rice.
7
Pull the fabric from the inside through the hole.
8
It takes some patience. My grandma always used a knitting needle to pull the fabric through the hole.
10
Put a funnel into the opening.
11
Fill with uncooked rice and shake or shimmy the rice into the fabric as needed.
12
It took me a few rounds to fill it up.
13
Give the rice a little help. Don't fill it all the way or it will be too hard.
14
Sew the opening shut.
15
And you're done!
16
I used uncooked rice I already had and fabrics scraps from another project. An old t-shirt would work just fine!
